Hill of Guard

The Hill of Guard or Amon Tirith was the outlying hill on which Minas Tirith was built. It joined Mindolluin by a narrow shoulder which rose to the height of the fifth wall of the city.[1][2]

Etymology

Amon Tirith is the Sindarin rendition of "hill of guard" (see amon and tirith).[2]
