Ilion was the father of Ingwë, who would later become the King of the Vanyar. He was one of the Minyar, a direct descendant of Imin and Iminyë from eldest son to eldest son, belonging to the fourth generation of Elves (i.e. a great-grandson of Imin).[1]
It is unknown if he joined the Great March or remained in Cuiviénen, where he was born; but as the Minyar/Vanyar were described as most eager to undertake the journey, it is likely he followed his son along with his people.
Etymology
According to Paul Strack, the name Ilion seems to be in Quenya, but its meaning is unclear.[2]
