Ioreth

Imloth Melui was a valley in Lossarnach.[1][2]

Roses grew in Imloth Melui.[3] People from Minas Tirith often travelled to the upper valleys of Lossarnach to see the flowers and the blossoms of the fruit trees.[2] Ioreth was probably raised in Imloth Melui before she travelled to Minas Tirith.[3][4]

Etymology

Imloth Melui is Sindarin[5] for "sweet flower-valley"[2] or "lovely flowery vale"[1]. It is a compound of Imloth ("flowery vale") and Melui ("lovely").[1] The element Imloth seems to be a compound of im ("valley") and loth ("flower").[5]

Portrayal in adaptations

2015: The Lord of the Rings Online:

Imloth Melui was a location in the Lossarnach area, in the region of Eastern Gondor. In Lord Forlong's absence it was ruled by his wife the Lady Vanyalos, sister of Steward Denethor. Merenir was Captain of the Guard in Imloth Melui. The river Erui flowed through the valley.
