Isilmo was the younger brother of Queen Tar-Telperiën. He had a son named Minastir. Tar-Telperiën outlived Isilmo, but she refused to wed and had no children. Thus, Tar-Telperiën was succeeded by Isilmo's son, her nephew, who became Tar-Minastir.[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Isilmo is a Quenya name. Its meaning is not glossed, but Paul Strack suggests it is a compound of Isil ("moon") and the agental suffix -mo ("one", "anyone", "someone", "somebody").[2]
