lalaith is a noun meaning "laughter" in Sindarin.^[1]^[2]^[3]

EtymologyEdit

It is possible that this word shows influence from lala- in Quenya, such as, in the name Lalwendë or, more commonly, Lalwen (laughing maiden).^[4]^:343

In Common Eldarin the stem for 'laugh' is g-lada-, in Quenya lala-, in Telerin glada, and in Sindarin glað.^[4]^{:359, Note 29}
