Methiriad

From Tolkien Gateway

Methiriad, also known as Mid-Beleriand, was a region of West Beleriand that was located between Doriath and the river Narog.[1]

Methiriad consisted of the following locations:

According to Christopher Tolkien, both of these names only appear on the The Second 'Silmarillion' Map.[2]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Methiriad is a Sindarin word, but it is not glossed. As Paul Strack explains, it could mean "End of Two Rivers", from Meth ("last") + a mutated form of Sîr ("river, stream") + -ad ("dual").[3]
