Nolondil was the third son and youngest child of Vardamir Nólimon, heir to Elros Tar-Minyatur, first King of Númenor. His eldest brother took up the Sceptre as Tar-Amandil. Nolondil had three children: one daughter, Yávien, and two sons, Oromendil and Axantur.[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Nolondil is a Quenya name. Its meaning is not glossed, but Paul Strack suggests it means "Friend of Knowledge" and might be a compound of ñólë ("lore, knowledge") and -ndil ("friend, lover, devoted to").[2]
