Perry-the-Winkle was a humorous poem written by Samwise Gamgee and recorded in the Red Book. It speaks about the Lonely Troll and three Hobbits, which were perhaps based on real Hobbits.
J.R.R. Tolkien published the poem within The Adventures of Tom Bombadil.
Etymology
Periwinckle is a marine mollusc and a creeping plant.[1]
