Due to the fact, that the correct name of Mandos is Námo and that we have two articles about the same Vala, I want to suggest to merge both articles and to move them to Námo[former link] because this is the correct name of the Vala. Like it was done with Irmo and his common name Lórien the Mandos article would then just redirect to Námo[former link]. What do you think about it? -- Eldarion Telcontar 10:26, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

I definately agree. Allthough I would rather call the articles "Irmo Lórien" and "Námo Mandos". -- Ederchil 10:35, 16 August 2008 (EDT)
Mmh, could we call them "Irmo (Lórien)" and "Námo (Mandos)", so that it doesn't sound like fore- and surname? -- Eldarion Telcontar 12:49, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

Location as name[edit]

Should we mention in the article instances of real-life mythologies where deities wear the name of their realms? Mandos for example reminds me the Greek word Hades, which is both the abode of the dead, and the name of its ruler. The difference is that Namo took the name Mandos after the realm, while the realm of Hades took its name after the god. Is there a similar case in any other mythology? Sage 06:15, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

I think this is an excellent connection you've raised. Isn't there in Norse mythology Hel the place and Hel the person? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 15:09, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Image change[edit]

I feel this the current info box image doesn’t draw sufficient attention to Mandos, how about this one? —Holdwine Meriadoc (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 21:33, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Agree, and the image is actually a sketch. Sorry, but I don't like that of Maureval, looks like a forest god :P. What about Elena Kukanova's? --LorenzoCB 22:20, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
Seconded (the later image, not the former). Though I'm also in favour of this one: File:Steamey - Mandos.jpg. --IvarTheBoneless
I prefer the Steamey option myself! --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 06:57, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
