I've decided to take on the burden of fleshing out the War of the Last Alliance pages. I consider myself a sage of the Second Age, so I'm going to work on it. --Theoden1 13:37, 2 November 2007 (EDT)

I suggest to merge this article with Last Alliance of Elves and Men --Thalion 10:01, 14 March 2008 (EDT)

I understand the suggestion, but the War will have far more tactical detail (eventually) than the more general article describing the alliance. --Theoden1 15:42, 24 April 2008 (EDT)
Agree with Theoden. If this is the "military" article, make the other the "politics" article. -- Ederchil 15:45, 24 April 2008 (EDT)

Agree. The Alliance is a page devoted to the Alliance itself not the conflict. By the way I will help you in your grand endeavor Theoden. --Dwarf Lord 01:46, 25 April 2008 (EDT)

Welcome to the War. Any help will be appreciated. I'm also working on some of the other pre-WR ancient battles as well. We need to flesh these out. --Theoden1 11:03, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Looking at some other Wikis, I notice that they often have a little flag icon in their war/battle boxes next to the the identification of the nation the force is allied with. As we are dealing with fantasy history, flags and insignias will not be as well defined, but I think it will add to the professionalism to which we aspire. For instance, the White Tree of Gondor as an icon, or the plain black standard of Sauron. --Theoden1 11:12, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Lotr - Weapons and Warfare[edit source]

No offense, but how good is this as a source? Can't we use the book sources WaW cites? -- Ederchil 16:38, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Agreed, I don't have the book on me but I'll see if I can find the sources they use as we should do our best not to cite secondary sources, though they are better than not citing anything at all. --Hyarion 18:55, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
This particular source has participation from Christopher Lee and John Howe, big grapical designers in the Peter Jackson films. This book is heavy on New Line Cinema involvement, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I felt it was better to directly quote a seoondary source than to paraphrase material from it. --Theoden1 20:21, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
Still, primary sources are better. -- Ederchil 16:18, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Sources[edit source]

Great that you started using primary referneces. Just one thing - could you include chapter names? "The Fellowship of the Ring" is pretty global for a reference.

Oh, and wanna see an edit war, T-man? I think i'm declaring one on Linathiel. -- Ederchil 06:48, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

I suppose I could put in some chapters. So what article are you going to war over? I might want to watch and bring popcorn. --Theoden1 09:09, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
Legolas, and the picture... Earendilyon, Narfil and I agreed on a pic on the talk page, and here comes Li'l Miss Linathiel with utter disregard for talk pages (she apparently does not read them, she's still deleting pronounce templates).<rant> Check out any Elf. Has it got a picture of Anya Valle? Then she put it there. She also has trouble finding the "preview" button. She thinks Aragorn had six daughters - source, much?</rant>
As for chapters, you can link them too - we have an article on Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age. -- Ederchil 09:21, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
Thanx, got it. You might want to try to talk some sense to her and prevent the next great edit conflict. The Wiki userbox wars raged for years-- let's avoid that kind of nonsense here. --Theoden1 10:43, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
Maybe I'll post a long, substantiated rant next time she has her monthly edit spree. Plenty of ammo ;). Of course, there's the opportunity she doesn't read talk pages. I'm not the feuding type, nor able to long lasted enmity, but sometimes... -- Ederchil 11:02, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

Images[edit source]

Surely there are non-movie images of this? -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 10:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Anonymous Dwarf Erasure[edit source]

Since someone is anonymously editing the pages mentioning the War of the Last Alliance to exclude the participation of the Dwarves, is there any way for an admin to lock these pages temporarily? Legitimate edits could be requested and approved by Mith or someone else trustworthy, and eventually this anonymous user might finally leave the matter alone. --Edrastel 06:42, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 21:05, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
