Third Age 1240 (abbreviated to T.A. 1240) is the 1240th year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth.
Notable events in this year include:
- King Narmacil I of Gondor, to rid himself of his cares, appoints his nephew Minalcar (lated known as Rómendacil II) Regent of Gondor. Minalcar rules as Regent, in the name of the King, until he succeeds his father as King himself in T.A. 1304.[1][2]
