Tolkien Studies: Volume 1, published in 2004, is the first volume of the annual review Tolkien Studies.
Carl F. Hostetter's article reprints the 1944 text of Sir Orfeo, in Middle English, edited by J.R.R. Tolkien. It also analyses the differences and similarities between the 1944 version and the Modern English version, translated by Tolkien, published in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo (1975).
