:::I personally prefer the little navbox. Seeing as there is not much to tell on the houses, and the pictures of the shields are quite tall, I don't think the article will look very pretty with the infobox. Revision as of 14:58, 17 July 2008

Here are some templates I'd like to propose... fire away if you want to. I chose some non-standard quotes, because I like them. It does redlink, but that's of later concern. Maybe some of them are too big, and a simple line will do.

Houses of Gondolin

File:House-of-the-Fountain.jpg
{{{house}}}
House of the Gondolindrim
Lord{{{lord}}}
Symbol{{{symbol}}}
Weapons{{{weapons}}}
Clad{{{clothing}}}
Populace{{{populace}}}
Established{{{established}}}
Dissolved{{{dissolved}}}

I'll keep the colors of the Noldor Infobox... though I think the big one will be too large when the picture is inserted...

Edit: This is how big it is with an image

Houses of the Gondolindrim
King | Fountain | Swallow | Wing | Golden Flower | Heavenly Arch | Harp | Tower of Snow | Mole | Pillar | Tree | Hammer of Wrath

This is great work. Thank you. ~~ Þelma 10:43, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
I personally prefer the little navbox. Seeing as there is not much to tell on the houses, and the pictures of the shields are quite tall, I don't think the article will look very pretty with the infobox. Unless the picture would be to the text's side. -- Ederchil 10:49, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

My growing frustrations about the size of these things made me write a new version. I made the text smaller, but it's still readable, and made the characters spring out more. Oh, and instead of {{{name}}} I did the easier {{PAGENAME}}. That's why it says "Ederchil/Templates".

Edit: I actually wanted to put a hide/show button on there, but it requires another template, usually called {{!}}, because the pipe has a different meaning with #if conditions. Wikipedia and Wookieepedia do have that special template, but I think it's a little premature to make such a superficial template here.

Good Article

Basically, a template for good articles - articles that are not featured, and never shall be (because they're too small), but are througlhy sourced and in compliance with the standards, and there is little more to add to them.

"I have quite finished, Sam" - Frodo
This article is considered more or less finished. Unless new information should arise, no more edits are required.

Or a shorter note:

Featured Article Nominee

At the request of Quidon88, a header for FA nominees, calling registered users to pass their judgment. Quote is from Cirion & Eorl.

Ted Nasmith - The Oathtaking of Cirion and Eorl.jpg "Let us go now to the place that I have prepared" - Cirion
This article is nominated for Featured Article. Registered users can pass their judgment on it here.
I implemented this template, and installed it on the three nominated articles. Thanks for your work in designing this template--it's beyond me.--Theoden1 10:21, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Uhm... I looked up Wikipedia:Web colors, and copied the tabletalk of the cleanup template. No big. Copy, paste, adapt. Like I did with all those infoboxes in my profile.

Claimed

I saw a template for "claimed" articles on another wikia. It's basically to tell editors to lay low, so no edit conflicts occur, or if someone is doing a major revision, the structure of the text does not get messed up. It's dedicated to Theoden1 ;), and I gave it a Leaf by Niggle quote. This could replace the stub or cleanup template.

"I oughtn't to interrupt you, I know. [...] You are very busy, I'm sure" - Mr. Parish
An editor is currently busy with major revisions to this article. Before editing, discuss your intentions on this article's Talk page.

Or some others, a bit more crass perhaps...

"This is a private studio", said Niggle. "I am busy. Go away!"

HoMe

For people, things or events that appeared only in HoMe.

"Oh, Tinwelint, richest of kings, dost thou think these things are fair?"' - Ufedhin
The content of this article comes from The History of Middle-earth. It cannot be considered canon.

Adaptation

To distinguish movie-verse from bookverse. One banner suits all franchises, I deem.

File:Peter Jackson's Haldir.jpg "We are proud to serve alongside Men once more."' - Haldir
This article is about an object, event or character that only appeared in an adaptation of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Non-Middle-earth

Since we're Tolkien Gateway, and not Middle-earth Gateway, a clear message telling readers this is not Middle-earth might be helpful.

Fiction

"Oh God, no more Elves"' - Hugo Dyson
This article is not about The Lord of the Rings, nor Middle-earth. Tolkien wrote several other short stories.

Real-world

J.R.R. Tolkien smiling.jpg "Her name was Ava Gardner, but it still ment nothing..."' - J.R.R. Tolkien, Letter 267
This article is about an organization, event or person from the real world rather than one of Professor Tolkien's many stories.
