About me

I have been a Tolkien fan since I was three years old. My favorite character is, of course, Sam Gamgee, but I cannot name a single character in Tolkien's legendarium which I cannot love in some way or another (I mean, I do not love Morgoth in that I like the fellow, but he is an excellent villain). I write under "singing orc" partly as a private joke with a friend, but also because the songs of orcs are very catchy.

Fifteen birds in five firtrees,

their feathers were fanned in a fiery breeze!

But, funny little birds, they had no wings!

O what shall we do with the funny little things?

Roast 'em alive, or stew them in a pot;

fry them, boil them and eat them hot?

Favorite Tolkien Quotes

"Surely you don't disbelieve the prophecies, because you had a hand in bringing them about yourself? You don't really suppose, do you, that all your adventures and escapes were managed by mere luck, just for your sole benefit? You are a very fine person, Mr. Baggins, and I am very fond of you; but you are only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!"—Gandalf, The Hobbit, The Last Stage

"'So do I, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. And already, Frodo, our time is beginning to look black. The Enemy is fast becoming very strong. His plans are far from ripe, I think, but they are ripening. We shall be hard put to it. We should be very hard put to it, even if it were not for this dreadful chance."—Gandalf, The Fellowship of the Ring The Shadow of the Past

"But that's not the way of it with the tales that really mattered, or the ones that stay in the mind. Folk seem to have been just landed in them, usually, their paths were laid that way, as you put it. But I expect they had lots of chances, like us, of turning back, only they didn't. And if they had, we shouldn't know, because they'd have been forgotten. We hear about those as just went on."—Sam Gamgee, The Two Towers, The Stairs of Cirith Ungol
