Wiki's policy[edit source]

Hi. I appreaciate your recent contributions, you are making good improvements with bibliography matters, which are very important. But please, take into account that the wiki's policy on books is having article mainly focused on first editions. We must include also info for second and revised editions, but these should be discussed in other parts of the article, even with other infoboxes or a gallery of images for the different editions. Please, if you could fix this matter, like the article of the Companion and Guide's article or the image of Mr. Bliss, it'll be pretty useful. Thanks again. --LorenzoCB 13:18, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I see the problem now, I'll work on it. I think, perhaps, it would be a good idea to make a dedicated "Publication history" section for each book (like the Mr. Bliss page). In that way I could include images of each and every editions of that book. Do you think that would be desirable? Luotiansha 14:23, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's a nice idea. Adapt the info as you consider better, here you can see a couple of options: Morgoth's Ring#Publication history and image Gallery, Splintered Light. Please, another very important detail is including categories always, also images of books. --LorenzoCB 17:37, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Great, thanks for reminding. Luotiansha 18:04, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Maedhros[edit source]

It is not explicitly stated that Maedhros cast himself into a gaping chasm filled with fire, because he wanted to kill himfelf. However it is stated that he was in anguish and despair when he did that and that he perceived that his oath was vain. It is usual that a person assumes that it will kill him when he jumps into a gaping chasm filled with fire and if this person is filled with anguish and despair that is a motive that is in line with an action that will most probable result in one's death. It is rather like splitting hairs not to infer that Maedhros wanted to kill himself. --Akhorahil 14:53, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For the same reasons you said, it is redundant mentioning suicide. --LorenzoCB 15:03, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, maybe he did intend to, but the word "suicide" is just too glaring and makes one uncomfortable. Either way the viewers will get the idea, so let's try not make it jarring. Luotiansha 15:33, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
