Email function not working?

I was caught up in the IP blocks LorenzoCB put in place to try to keep Dour1234 out for a few weeks. I tried to use the "E-mail this user" function to reach out to Lorenzo and to you, but I don't think any emails were ever sent; I checked the box to "send me a copy" but got nothing. Can you look into the email function (or get in touch with Hyarion if you can't do anything about it)? Thanks! --Mord 04:59, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

My apologies to Mith for writing in his talkpage, but I guess this appropiate. Mord, I didn't receive your email, but Mith did and he noticed me of your problem. That's so weird; I just got your email now but it's backdated(?) to March 11. Anyway the temporary IP blocks expired, which is why I'm able to edit again, so I don't think anyone needs to do anything else with the blocks - I just wonder if maybe the email server is not processing outbound mail appropriately. --Mord 05:06, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

IP Addresses Are Incorrect

Hi,

Technical To-do pointed me in your direction.

I noticed after editing the Goldberry article that the wiki attributed my edit to the IP address 172.71.178.157.

Looking up the IP address, it appears to be registered to Cloudflare and assigned to a server in the UK. They aren’t my ISP, however, nor do I live there. It seems this site is using Cloudflare’s services, though - so this is almost certainly caused by a misconfiguration.

I really don’t care about not getting credited for fixing a typo, but I thought I’d bring this to your attention as it will affect edit tracking and bans pertaining to logged-out users - and banning Cloudflare IP addresses might even impact the site’s availability for unrelated users.

I’ll try to remember to check back in case you’ve any questions, but the site’s misconfiguration is likely to randomly assign me different IP addresses each time I submit an edit. There’s nothing I can do to prevent that.

That really should be fixed. You don’t need me to tell you how abusable this bug is.

Hello.I would like to ask you something.Why don't you interfere in Tolkien Gateway's function anymore? Once you did many things here. I miss the image uploads. Some of my favourite artists such as Lída Holubová or Matěj Čadil used to have their art regularly uploaded to the Tolkien Gateway. And there are many new pictures over the last year they made that are not here, but they could enrich many articles.--ElwingNinque (talk) 11:53, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
