Vardilmë was the second child and only daughter of Vardamir Nólimon, heir to Elros Tar-Minyatur, first King of Númenor. Her older brother took up the Sceptre as Tar-Amandil. Almost nothing is known of her life.[1]
Etymology
Vardilmë is difficult to translate, but it could mean "Devoted to Varda" in Quenya, being a contraction of *Vardandilme for the sake of euphony. According to this interpretation, the ending is -ndilmë, a feminine form of -ndil ("friend, lover, devoted to").[2]
