Wintring in Bree was the tenth month of the Bree Calendar, corresponding to Winterfilth in the Shire Calendar (approximately corresponding to modern 22 September through 21 October).[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The Bree name Wintring means "Wintry".[2]

The Shire-hobbits believed that Wintring was a Bree alteration of the older name.[1]
