Gorlim, Gorlim!
Thou canst not have forsaken me.
Then slain, alas! thou slain must be!
And I must linger cold, alone,
and loveless as a barren stone!

Eilinel was the wife of Gorlim the Unhappy.

History

Eilinel was a fair and gentle maiden, and was much loved by Gorlim. When her husband went to the Dagor Bragollach, their house was "roofless"[3] and their "fields and homestead"[3] were plundered. Eilinel was killed "by butchers"[4] in some "burned woods"[4].[5]

Upon returning home, Gorlim could not find any trace of Eilinel. He kept returning to their house seeking for his lost wife, and Sauron tricked him by devising a phantom of Eilinel to make him betray the location of Barahir.[5]
