Hyarmendacil II, born with the name Vinyarion, was the twenty-fourth King of Gondor. Vinyarion ascended the throne after his father Aldamir was killed in a battle with the Harad and the Corsairs of Umbar in T.A. 1540. Eleven years later, in T.A. 1551, he defeated the Men of the Harad and took the name Hyarmendacil II., meaning "South-victor".
