José María Miranda Boto is Professor of Labour Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. He is the author of "El Derecho en Tolkien" (Cinca, 2017) and "Law, Government, and Society in J.R.R. Tolkien's Works" (Walking Tree, 2022), for which he received the Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies in 2024. He has edited "Tolkien. Un clásico de nuestros días" (Legendaria, 2024).
Since 2023, he has taught at the University of Vienna the course "Law and Literature: Law, Government, and Society in J.R.R. Tolkien's Works". He has given lectures on Tolkien at universities in Spain, Germany, Austria, France and Italy, as well as at fan associations in Colombia and the UK. He was a speaker at the Celsius 232 festival in Avilés. In 2023 he directed the summer course of the University of Santiago de Compostela "Tolkien. Un clásico dos nosos días".
