History
May was the second daughter, and fourth child, of Hamfast Gamgee and Bell Goodchild.[1]
Etymology
May could refer to the hawthorn blossoms, so called because they blossom in the month May. It was a common girl's name in the Shire.

- During the Harvest Festival, May is present near the Party Tree. By talking to her, "The Great Hobbit Rescue" questline can be initiated, in which she asks for help finding her lost friends in the Haunted Burrow.
