riellë

riellë or riel is a noun in Quenya and Telerin meaning "a maiden crowned with a festival garland", or more simply "garlanded maiden". Compare with rî in Sindarin.

Examples:

• Altáriel = "Maiden of the Radiant Garland"
• Míriel = "Maiden of the Jewelled Garland"

Possible Primitive Elvish form *rîgellê from the Root RIG.

From ría/rie "garland" and elle.
