The page has been 'busy' for about 3 months. I guess the editor has abandoned it? Sage 15:11, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The way I see it, he just doesn't have the time for it. Which reminds me, I still have OED and Rose Cotton. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 15:21, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Indeed I had not the time for it because I'm preparing for my Abitur (A-levels). But I'll try to continue editing in the Easter holidays. Eldarion Telcontar 13:54, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

English

Do we use British or American English? "enthral" or "enthrall"? I would prefer British English because it's Tolkien's language, isn't it? - Eldarion Telcontar 10:45, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Didn't know there was a diff in enthrall - thought it was a typo. As far as I know (and am concerned), we use wiki-rules on the matter: as long as it is consistent within the article, it's not important what variation is used, so long as quotes are not changed. If your only edit is changing it from one regional variation into the other, it gets reverted.
Personally I prefer OED spelling like Tolkien. See also WP:MOSS -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 11:06, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay. I asked because User:72.89.224.203 changed "enthral" into "enthrall" which is to change it into American English (or so at least "Collins English Dictionary" and "dict.cc" say because I must confess that I don't have an OED at hand). - Eldarion Telcontar 11:34, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Main image

It could just be me, but I don't think the main image is right. It's way too long. The purpose of an infobox is to have basic info stand out from the rest. With this image, you have to scroll down first... looking through the category, I can't say I can find any better images. Any suggestions/ideas? -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 19:20, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How do you like this: MECCG Éomer? It would fit better in the infobox, at least. I can edit the pic if you agree on changing to the MECCG card (and perhaps move the John Howe down in the article, somewhere). --Morgan 23:01, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm getting a 403 on that link, could you upload it? -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 23:03, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Better? --Morgan 23:10, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Proportion-wise, yes. But the image itself is not really representative. A headshot or at least a static pose would be better, IMO. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 23:11, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
True. Feel free to revert, or keep if we don't have anything better at the moment. --Morgan 23:13, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In Beowulf

During Tolkien's time, that word was believed to be "Eomer". Nowadays, most scholars read it as "geomor(c)". Years back, I got a screengrab of the word in question from the online version of the manuscript, but I kept forgetting to upload it. Since I'm now two PCs later, I'll have to check some usb sticks if I still have it. --Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 17:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Roughly in the center.
That was quicker than I thought. --Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 17:31, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Infobox image

I would like to propose using File:Fabio Leone - A Red Dawn on the East-Mark.jpg as the main infobox image as we have permission from the artist, it fills out the infobox unlike the current one and it is higher resolution. Paccyd33 (talk) 14:32, 4 November 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The biblical flood of changes with uploads of images has made it practically impossible to maintain an overview of important recent changes. As a consequence, I did not even notice that a change of the infobox image had been proposed on the dicussion page of the Éomer page.
In my opinion, the new image is unsuitable for the infobox. The colours on the image are very dark since it is supposed to be dawn. The blue and green colours dominant on Eomer do not show much of how he actually looks like, because he is only seen from a distance on his horse. The former infobox image with daylight colours and more of a close up of Eomer was better. I am in favor of reverting this change. --Akhôrahil (talk) 08:16, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply[reply]
