Etymology

This article had: "Aros ([[Doriathrin]] *"redness"; root YAR "blood")" . There doesn't seem to be enough info in the Etymologies for this claim - have I missed some other reference to the name Aros? --Morgan 20:57, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"Redness" is never given as a direct translation. Under the root YAR, the connection to blood and the red colour of the river are mentioned. I think the removal of "redness" is legitimate. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 22:41, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Are there two different editions of the Lost Tales with different page numbers? In my paperback edition the page numbers are 236 and 244 note 15.--172.70.214.166 12:30, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Mine too, both in my Unwin paperback edition and the hardback. That's why I changed Akhorahil's edition. --Quentandil 12:34, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I thought it was my mistake. Maybe Akhorahil was using his German translations. Is there a convention to write in past tense?--172.70.210.214 12:49, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes. Please, check the Tolkien Gateway:Manual of Style, as well as the OVOTL sections to keep consistency. These important details apart, you are adding good info! --Quentandil 13:01, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
