I've removed these two statements, the first from the article, and the second from the (old) etymology section of the Gandalf article.
- 1 The name is related to "dream" and therefore derives from [[root]] [[ÓLOS]], Old Quenya/[[Vanyarin]] ''Olózin''. The [[PQ]] form could had been *''Olozindo''
- 2 '''''Olózin''''' ([[Vanyarin]], {{IPA|[oˈloːzin]}})
It seems to me that the second statement must have been derived from the first. The mention of ÓLOS is interesting, but comes from the Etymologies, a very early work (the PE17 and UT references to olor are much later and should therefore be more valid, especially since they are explicitly mentioned as explanations for the name of Ólorin). I haven't found any source for the form Olózin - is it fanon or a derivation based on any source? --Morgan 23:05, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
