Basic and advanced rules enable a wide range of players to tackle this extraordinary game. There are editions in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Greek.

Battles of the Third Age

War of the Ring - Battles of the Third Age was an expansion released in 2006, it introduces new armies and figures, including the Ents, Dunlendings, Siege Towers, Catapults, Corsairs, Southron Cavalry, and more! Galadriel and the Balrog take the field, with brand-new rules and new strategies.
You will have a chance to add these new figures to make your War of the Ring battles even more fun ... and to re-fight the battles of Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith on a new gameboard, with new rules which move the game from the grand-strategy to the tactical scale and add a whole new dimension to War of the Ring!
Editions
In 2011, a second edition of the game was published by Ares Games with the same designers. It featured such refinements as making the map and cards larger and thus easier to read, improvements to miniatures with improved sculpts and rules optimizations to help balance out gameplay. The rules changes between editions were significant enough that the three expansions from the second edition are not compatible with the first one.
