Letter to Edith Bratt (3 January 1913)

On 3 January 1913, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Edith Bratt.^[1]

Subject: Tolkien's love for Edith.

Tolkien, who commenced the letter at midnight,^{[note 1]} declares that his love for Edith has not changed in the last three years since they were separated and that he is willing to marry her.
