Lofar was a Dwarf in early drafts of The Fellowship of the Ring. He was one of the Dwarves that stayed at Bag End after Bilbo Baggins' birthday party.[1]
History
In the early writings of the chapter "A Long-expected Party", Lofar was instructed by Bilbo to give the Ring to Frodo Baggins (at that point called "Bingo").[1] Lofar is not named in the published version of The Fellowship of the Ring however he may be one of three Dwarves that sets out with Bilbo for Rivendell.[2]
Etymology
Lofarr is a dwarf from the Dvergatal. It can mean either "Stooper" or "Praiser".[3]
