Taras-ness was the headland of Mount Taras, on the shores of the land of Nevrast, where Turgon had his original citadel of Vinyamar.[1]
In place names, the suffix -ness comes from the Old English næss (or ness) and means "cape", "promontory", or "land jutting out into the sea"[2].
