Your edit on the Aragorn page

I reverted your edit on the Aragorn page, because your edit inserted a grammar mistake. In an unreal (hypothetical) sentence "were" is the correct form for the third person singular. It is an unreal (hypothetical) sentence, because Aragorn is not the (real) son of Elrond. So "Aragorn was fostered in Rivendell by Elrond as if he were his own son." is correct and the "were" did not need to be changed to "was". --Akhôrahil (talk) 13:36, 4 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello, But I always thought as I studied English at school that it there should be used "was" if singular past simple time and "were" in plural and that it was a misprint🤔 Dmitry Azikov (talk) 15:04, 4 August 2024 (UTC)

As Akhorahil says, something unreal uses "were", same with something conditional. "You are talking to me as if I were a child". Anfang (talk) 15:34, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
