balan

balan (pl. belain) means "Vala, divine power, divinity" in Exilic Noldorin.[1][2]
Balan was also the original name of Bëor.[3]
Etymology[edit]
- Root BAL[1] In The Silmarillion, balrog is glossed as Sindarin "Demon of Might", indicating the contracted form bal-.[4]
