Dorothy Grace Wood (née Mountain), called "Ding" by close relatives, was a cousin of J.R.R. Tolkien (her mother was Grace Mountain). As a child, J.R.R. Tolkien spent several holidays with his paternal aunt in Northumberland, and in later life he renewed the friendship with Dorothy.[1][2]
