Ír

Ír was an Irish king, according to the early version of the legendarium associated with The Book of Lost Tales.^[1]

History

Ír was the father of Íring, who was commissioned by an Anglo-Saxon king Watol to build a road through his lands, which he was able to do in seven years. However, Watol's sons, the Wætlingas, resented Íring's arrogance, and wagered that they could build an even better road in only three years.

King Ír, who was allied with the Orcs of the island of Íwerin (i.e. Ireland), however, sent "all kinds of secret evils" at his son's behest, in order to stop the Wætlingas from reaching their goal.^[1]
