On 12 April 1966, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Mother Mary Anthony.[1]

  • Subject: Charles Williams. Tolkien writes that he has little personal knowledge of Williams's "biographical or mental history", and that he "had no personal discussions with him about literature. His work gave me no pleasure [...] But I found him a pleasant companion socially."
  • Publication: Extracts from the letter have appeared in Mythlore 45,[2] and in The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide: Chronology (p. 662).
