The entry for F.A. 220 with The New Shadow should be removed to an Other versions of the legendarium section. I have done so on the Reunited Kingdom and Eldarion pages. From The Peoples of Middle-earth and two Letters from J.R.R. Tolkien about bis writings concerning the Fourth Age, especially the Second letter he abandoned The New Shadow, because he thought that the Story was not worth to be told. --Akhorahil 13:09, 23 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't think a Timeline article is the right place for discussions of alternate continuities, given its necessarily abbreviated nature. If consensus is that events described in The New Shadow "didn't happen," then I think the reference to it should be removed from the year entry for 220 entirely. In either case, I think we should still retain the 220 date entry for the end of Eldarion's reign and presumable life, since there's no reason to think that Tolkien would have seen fit to change that detail even if he otherwise intended to disavow the events of The New Shadow entirely. Eldarion had to die sometime, after all, and F.O. 220 is the last word Tolkien gave on the subject. --75.118.149.152 09:18, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
