The Mound of the Riders was a burial mound raised for the Rohirrim who fell in the Battles of the Fords of Isen. It was raised on a bare eyot in the middle of the fords, ringed with stones and set about with spears.[1]
History
The First and Second Battles of the Fords happened on 25 February and 2 March T.A. 3019 respectively. The Rohirrim took heavy losses. Later, Gandalf gathered all surviving forces he could find. He set some to make the Mound and later to return to protect Edoras.
