Why has this category overseded C:Images of Haladin? Idk if this was discussed in the server, but this should be notified in a talkpage at least, and more importantly, the term Halethian is not even mentioned in the House of Haleth article or the wiki as a denomyn, only as the language. I apologize for giving you a whiplash.

The reason I changed it to 'Images of Halethians' is:

1) to bring it in line with the '(Category:Images of Bëorians)' and '(Category:Images of Hadorians)'

but more importantly

2) because Tolkien abandoned the idea of using the 'Haladin' as referring to the entire people, but instead repurposed it to refer to the descendants of Haldad instead - while this shouldn't be taken as 'absolute canon' or anything like that, I think it's important enough to warrant some leeway (especially since it allows for the point no. 1 to be adopted more naturally).

As for the demonym 'Halethian' - Tolkien used the term 'Halethian language' on more than one occasion - at the very least, it's no less attested than 'Beorian' or 'Hadorian'.

I suppose Halethrim can work even better (since Tolkien uses it twice in the WotJ). But 'Halethians' is something that Christopher Tolkien himself used (even if he, quite reasonably, derived it from the mention of the Halethian language in the note 4 to the Problem of Ros - PoME, p. 372). I didn't doubt the term is a good option, just saying you should attest it in the own article before doing these secondary tasks. This would avoid that both of us point out that Halethrim is more appropiate and having to move the category again. Quentandil (talk) 22:27, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
