Ettendales
From Tolkien Gateway
The Ettendales were the valleys (dales) in the Ettenmoors that extended up into the foothills of the Misty Mountains.[1] They were located far to the north of Rivendell and inhabited by Trolls.[2]
Etymology[edit]
Ettendales is a Common Speech name. It contains the obsolete element eten ('troll, ogre')" from Old English eoten.[3] The second element is dale from Old English dael ("valley").[4]
