Perry-the-Winkle was a Hobbit of Michel Delving, and the main character of the hobbit-poem Perry-the-Winkle.
In the poem, Perry was the only hobbit who treated the Lonely Troll kindly, and in him the Troll found the friend he always wanted; the Troll often fed him and taught him how to be a great cook.[1]
Etymology[edit]
Periwinckle is a marine mollusc and a creeping plant.[2]
