Beginning

This page is the template outline for the specifics of a very long conflict, which went on for centuries. -- Theoden1  talk  contribs  edits  05:40, 27 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Will someone please expand on the Eotheod incursion? Can't seem to find it in the Appendices. --108.218.187.55 20:45, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rename to Fall of Arnor

I think it's more descriptive, since one could imagine that Angmar had lots of wars, while Arnor definitely only fell once. It also just sounds like a term Tolkien would use. NotJesper (talk) 11:57, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I disagree with renaming the article to Fall of Arnor, because the kingdom of Arnor did not fall, because of the wars with the kingdom of Angmar. Arnor was split into the three successor kingdoms of Arthedeain, Cardolan and Rhudaur before the first attack by Angmar, so Arthedain, Cardolan and Rhudaur (indirectly) fell because of Angmar. --Akhôrahil (talk) 08:26, 12 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's fair. I'd like to add that the LotR appendix says that "after Arvedui [the last king of Arthedain], the North-kingdom ended." So considering ACR as a continuation of Arnor is consistent with the books.
Renaming the article would allow it to cover the entire sequence of events comprising the fall of Arnor, from the break-up of the kingdom to the Battle of Fornost, which is generally how it is put in the sources. The current article kind off awkwardly misses out on the first 5% of the story. I think that's unsatisfying.
This isn't hugely important to me. I understand if people want to retain "Angmar War." (Although thinking of it, maybe it should be Angmar Wars, plural.) I just wanted to put the idea out there. NotJesper (talk) 16:29, 12 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
