Tarciryan was the younger son of King Siriondil of Gondor. When his elder brother, Tarannon Falastur, died without an heir, Tarciryan's son Eärnil I ascended the throne.[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Tarciryan is Quenya. Its meaning is not glossed, but as Paul Strack explains, it seems to be a compound of tar ("high") and cirya ("ship"), although the significance of the final n is unclear.[2]
