Portrayal in adaptations
2011: The Lord of the Rings: War in the North
- Rowlie Appledore appears as a local in Bree, as a non-player character at the Prancing Pony Inn. The player character can converse with Rowlie and help him in his efforts to confess his feelings to an old love of his, a local woman named Idona. If the player character revisits Bree during the later parts of the game's storyline, the player learns that Rowlie and several other townsmen were killed by the ruffians in January (as in the source material).
