Ruamórë

From Tolkien Gateway

Ruamórë was the dwelling of Ungweliantë[note 1], according to the early version of the legendarium associated with The Book of Lost Tales.[1]

Etymology

The name Ruamórë is in Qenya. It is glossed as "Still Night" by Eldamo, consisting of rua ("steady, still, tranquil") + mórë ("night, darkness; black, dark").[2]

However, in a note to an entry in the Qenya Lexicon, the first element of the name comes from either (1. "dwelling, village"; 2. "steadfastness") or ruella ("hamlet").[1]

Notes

  1. The name for the character was either Ungwë-Tuita or Ungwë Fuiva in the texts in which the name Ruamórë appears.
