Delete article
This article should be (and for the most part is) covered by the appropriate section in Angmar War. And there's not enough to add that I think it ever deserves a separate article. NotJesper (talk) 11:49, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
Rewrite and citation
I rewrote and cited this article. I think if it is to remain on the site it should be renamed to "War of 1409," as it is never referred to as the "Fall of Cardolan." MOONBOLT (talk) 20:07, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- I disagree that this page should be renamed to "War of 1409". There are many pages with names where J.R.R. Tolkien did not assign a proper name. At the end of the entry for king Argeleb II of Arthedain the the first character of the term "war of 1409" is not capitalized, so it is not a proper name. There are several pages on Tolkien Gateway that start with "Fall of " (e.g. Fall of Nargothrond, Fall of Dol Guldur, Fall of the Falas, Fall of Mount Gundabad, Fall of Fornost, Fall of Amon Sûl), so there would be some consistency in choosing the "Fall of Cardolan" for this page. --Akhôrahil (talk) 11:06, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's fine, I honestly don't feel too strongly about it. Do you think it should be rolled into the Angmar War page? Or do you think it should remain its own page like it is now? MOONBOLT (talk) 12:00, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- I am surprised by your question. There are many other pages on Tolkien Gateway that cover battles or wars and many other pages that cover the realms of the parties that were involved in those wars. The page about the Fall of Cardolan should not be merged with the Angmar War page, which Dour1234 now moved to the Angmar conflict page without a broad discussion and consensus, because the Fall of Cardolan page focuses on the attack on the realm of Cardolan with only a bit of a prelude and and aftermath while the Angmar War (Angmar conflict) page focuses on all wars between Angmar and the successor realms of Arnor (i.e. Arthedain and Cardolan and Rhudaur) and extends further in time until the destruction of the realm of Angmar with aid of forces from Gondor and from riders from Rhovanion as can be seen when one compares the two pages. --Akhôrahil (talk) 15:04, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- The main reason I was asking was because there was a discussion thread started here saying that it should be rolled into the Angmar War/Conflict page. but no one replied to it. If it makes sense for the page to stay up as it is, I'm fine with it. Your reasoning makes sense. MOONBOLT (talk) 17:14, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- I forget whether or not I had finished merging the pages. I will double check to see if I finished merging them eventually.Dour1234 (talk) 18:41, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Cleanup review
Can I get some more eyes on this cleanup? What else needs to be adjusted? I did some re-writing of it awhile back. MOONBOLT (talk) 09:00, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Looks much better, feel free to remove cleanup tag. Opening line that doesn't include the article title feels off to me though. I get that it may not have been a term Tolkien used, but I think we can convey that while still opening with the article title. Hyarion (talk) 04:03, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
