Should the contents of this article be incorporated into the Saruman article with "Sharkey" then being redirected to Saruman? I'm thinking about the discussion on the Talk:The Ever-young page. --GondolinFan (talk) 21:58, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I disagree, as the word has quite the history in the Sauron Defeated book. For instance, the name was applied to many of the ruffians at various stages of the development of the chapter. At one point, Sharkey was a random Ruffian by the name “Long Tom”, before Tolkien changed it to “Big Sharkey” and applied the name to the leader of the ruffians. Then he changed it again to “Ruffian Sharkey” before finally making it be a nickname for Saruman. I was going to add all of this to the page eventually. Agree with Dour. Remember, if a name is applied to just one character, redirect without discussion; if it is applied to other characters, don't. --LorenzoCB (talk) 12:36, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
