Thorin's kingship

So, some pages (and generally some timelines) consider that Thorin became King in 2850 when his father died but I want to challenge it. Thrain was captured in 2845 and stayed alive in Dol Guldur for 5 years, but it is hard to believe that he ruled his people from Dol Guldur; it's also impossible that when he died, his son somehow learned it, and succeeded him right then. As Thrain had all but disappeared, his son must had succeeded him any time after his capture, we just don't know when. To make things more complicated, Appendix A suggests that Thrain's death was confirmed only as late as 2941.
We can suppose that Thorin succeeded him in Kingship sometime after his disappearance, when they decided that he is lost for ever. We can also suppose that, like Gondorians, remained Kingless and waited for his return, and Thorin succeeded him only after it was confirmed by Gandalf.
Historically, we can accept that "unknowingly" Thorin succeeded him in 2850, when the missing Thrain died far away, without anyone knowing, but factually it can't be the case.
I think the most logical would be to write something like this
Thráin II (2790 - captured 2845, died 2850) · Thorin II Oakenshield† (after 2845 - 2941)
