White Company
From Tolkien Gateway
The White Company was the guard of the Princes of Ithilien during the Fourth Age.[1]
History[edit]
The company was created by King Elessar in T.A. 3019 to settle the complex case of Beregond, as he had abandoned his post and spilled blood, yet saved Faramir from an early death upon doing so. Elessar exiled Beregond from Minas Tirith, but appointed him to be the first Captain of the Guard of Prince Faramir[2] to dwell within the hills of Emyn Arnen in sight of Minas Tirith.[3]
During the early Fourth Age, Borlas and two old servants retired to Pen-arduin from the Prince's guard.[4]
Portrayal in adaptations[edit]
2019: The Lord of the Rings Online: Minas Morgul:
- After King Elessar charges Steward Faramir with cleansing the evil of Minas Morgul, Faramir leads the White Company into the Morgul Vale, where they and the Rangers of Ithilien establish several camps outside the Dead City.
