After talking to Thingol, Finrod departs Doriath seeking the caves under the High Faroth. Galadriel stays in Doriath out of friendship for Melian.^[1]
Finrod finds the caves and founds the kingdom of Nargothrond. He is named Felagund, "Hewer of Caves", by the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains who help him build his realm.^[2]
About the time, the Dwarves create the Nauglamír, the Necklace of the Dwarves, for Finrod Felagund.^[1]
