Valar War Leader

Thank you, Ederchil. I stand corrected. It was Eönwë. There's no evidence the big guy came himself. --Theoden1 12:45, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

This is about as far as this page can go with getting into the War itself. --Theoden1 20:22, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

I'm not sure if calling them "Host of the West" works - that name wasalso used in TA3019. Do you know whether Host of Valinor is a dublicate? -- Ederchil 03:14, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
Tolkien refers to the "Hosts of the West and the North" in the Silmarillion, "Of the Voyage of Eärendil and the War of Wrath". So I'm being completely canonical here. Yes, the phrase was used during WR in TA 3019 as well. --Theoden1 07:52, 18 May 2008 (EDT)--Theoden1 07:52, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
Okay, just wondering. We need a disamb when we make the articles (the other one isn't there yet either). -- Ederchil 07:56, 18 May 2008 (EDT) -- Ederchil 07:56, 18 May 2008 (EDT) ;-P

Proposal

The capitalized term "Host of the Valar" isn’t found in The Lord of the Rings while the capitalized term "Host of Valinor" is found in The Lord of the Rings. I think this page should move to the latter name because that is the name that appears in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings (the beginning of Appendix B in fact).Dour1234 (talk) 20:53, 2 February 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Besides the above, most people tend to recognize things in The Lord of the Rings more than things in The Silmarillion. Not only that, but The Silmarillion was posthumously published and the term "host of the Valar" implies that the Valar took part in the War of Wrath, a detail which is unknown/ambiguous/debated in later versions.Dour1234 (talk) 21:42, 16 August 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
